A nuclear engineering giant Atommash, a pride of the Soviet industry, was built in Volgodonsk (the first phase) to the design by Giprotyazhmash Institute, Moscow, which covered all the key aspects of the development of the plant to its full capacity.

The plant’s design incorporates the state-of-the-art R&D innovations and practices for the manufacturing of nuclear power plants that existed both in the USSR and abroad.

The Atommash design developed by Giprotyazhmash was reviewed and approved by the country’s most prominent scholars, such as President of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Academician Aleksandrov, Academicians Dolezhal, Tselikov, Melnikov, and others.

People’s Republic of China
Giprotyazhmash had developed designs for the Turbine Plant and Boiler Plant in Harbin and was awarded the China-Soviet Friendship medal for them.
